About 5 km NE of Basdorf, is the lakeside resort of Wandlitz. Here you can enjoy water-sports such as wind-surfing (there is a school for it) and canoeing, yachting and fishing. Or in the Summer months you can relax on the beach, or go for a swim in the crystal clear lake. Either way, there is a reasonably priced supervised lido with a diving board, or you can use the free bathing area beside it.

Situated amongst numerous other lakes and pristine forest, Wandlitz is a good base to explore the region, with ample restaurants to cater for the hungry tourist. Or if you are a culture vulture, there are numerous artists and ceramics workshops, and the Goldener Löwe (Golden Lion) arts centre with regular concerts, poetry readings and plays. For the history of farming in Brandenburg, you could also visit the agricultural museum in Wandlitz old town.
