Near the railway station, in former apprentice workshops and warehouses, is the fascinating Heidekrautbahn Museum, a must for all steam train enthusiasts.

It is run by the Berliner Friends of the Railway (Berliner Eisenbahnfreunde e.V.) and chronicles a past age of steam and its importance to Basdorf through exhibits and a working steam train train, diesel trains, and rolling stock.

The museum is only open to visitors on Saturdays from 11 - 17:00 hrs from late March to early November, but the volunteers run special excursions throughout the year.
